Dubuque, Iowa. (in cooperation with our Dubuque Regional Training Center with USA Wrestling) – The Stoltz Athletics Center on the campus of University of Dubuque campus will host the 2023 U.S. Olympic RTC Showcase in Wrestling on Saturday, October 21st and the Dubuque Regional Training Center will serve as the local organizing committee.
The wrestlers are competing for opportunities to become eligible to represent the United States at the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, August 5-11, 2024. Many of the athletes represented plan to stay with the Dubuque RTC through the 2028 Olympic Games.
The competition will feature some of the best in USA wrestling representing the Dubuque RTC. Olympic Gold Medalist Rulon Gardner, 2X Olympian Ben Provisor, USA World Team Member and NCAA All-American Brady Koontz, Dylan Koontz NCAA All-American and 4th in Final X Trials, Darryl Aiello – UD NCAA All-American and 4th in World Team Trials, Brandon Murray 4X All-American, Eddie Smith NCAA All-American, Zarik Anderson All-American all plan to compete. The competition will be held in the Olympic weight classes in wrestling, which includes six weight classes in men's freestyle (57 kg, 65 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg, 125 kg), women's wrestling (50 kg, 53 kg, 57 kg, 62 kg, 68 kg, 76 kg) and Greco-Roman (60 kg, 67 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg, 130 kg).
There is limited seating capacity and the event is expected to fill out.
Tickets start at $10* go on sale to the general public Friday, September 1st at 10 a.m. online.

The Eastern Iowa Wrestling area has already established itself as a historic wrestling area for hosting elite events like the Olympic Trials. University of Dubuque Men’s Head Coach Jon McGovern and University of Dubuque Women’s Head Coach Dennis Hall lead the Dubuque Regional Training Center and looking to expand opportunities to the Eastern Iowa wrestling community.
Coach McGovern & Hall are leading the campaign to support Olympic Wrestlers at the Dubuque RTC through the 2028 LA Olympic Games. Women’s programs and coach the Dubuque Regional Training Center. They plan to host several elite Olympic and NCAA competitions in the Dubuque community. Olympic Medalists Barry Davis and Randy Lewis assist the Dubuque RTC program along with Bryan Koontz.
The goal for this first competition is to set the all-time wrestling indoor dual meet attendance records have taken place in the facility with 650 pre-season tickets sold in advance. They want to highlight the Ukrainian Women’s National Team attending and promote world peace as well as Olympic wrestling opportunities for Greco Roman and Women’s Freestyle wrestling.
The event will be announced by Takedown Radio’s Scott Casper and produced on FLO WRESTLING with Greco Roman personalities Timmy Hands and Dustin Roland’s joining on the online broadcast. Some of the tri-states best officials in wrestling will be on hand to officiate – with Clifford Ramos, Cody Goessl, and Pete Kuisle.
Host University of Dubuque recently placed 8th in the NCAA National championships, 4th in the NCWA National Championships, and had 5 wrestlers place top 5 @ the USA Nationals in Las Vegas in 2023.
