WIBN Philadelphia's 2022 Wrestlers Of the Year

WIBN Philadelphia's Wrestlers Of the Year

The Philadelphia chapter of Wrestlers in Business announces its two inaugural Wrestlers of the Year for 2022. This award honors college athletes who performed at the highest level athletically, academically, and in their community. A prerequisite for consideration is membership and activity in WIBN.

CJ Composto:

CJ Composto completed his freshman at the University of Pennsylvania with an impressive list of accomplishments in his inaugural year competing for the Quakers. He was named EIWA Freshman of the Year and Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and he finished the season by placing 8th at the NCAA Championships, earning him All-American honors in Detroit this March.

In addition to his honors on the mat, CJ’s hard work in the classroom netted him several academic honors. He won the EIWA Academic Achievement Award, was recognized as a member of the Academic All-Ivy Team, and was named an Academic All-American by the NCAA. He finished the year with a 3.5 GPA.

CJ volunteers as a Beat the Streets (BTS) mentor, assisting high school students in their academic pursuits and helping them plan their future endeavors after graduation. His commitment to mentorship included weekly work with his mentees at the BTS office in Philadelphia. His dedication was especially apparent during the post-season, when he continued to volunteer while seeking to qualify and compete in the NCAA Championship tournament.

CJ is a WIBN member and is using the network to explore different industry and career options.

Bridgette Schoultz:

Bridgette Schoultz finished her junior year at Delaware Valley University, where she has been a leader on the team for the last three seasons. She finished the 2021-2022 season as a National Qualifier.

At the beginning of Bridgett’s freshman year, Delaware Valley’s program only had a part-time position for coach, which remained unfilled during that season. Determined to continue competing despite the coaching role being unfilled, Bridgette organized a club program and recruited other members to participate with her. In November 2019, Athletic Director David Duda relaunched the program and hired the first full-time head coach, World Medalist Leigh Jaynes.

Bridgette’s dedication and focus on the mat are replicated in the classroom, where she earned a 3.93 GPA. She has been selected as a member of two honor societies, Sigma Beta Delta and Sigma Alpha Delta.

Women’s wrestling is currently the fastest growing sport in the country, and Bridgette supports future generations of girls, and boys as well, as a coach. She has coached with three programs during the last three years: the Aggie Wrestling Kids Program based at Delaware Valley University, the Misfits Youth Wrestling Club in the Feasterville-Trevose area, and the high school program at Quakertown Area High School. Bridgette is dedicated to staying involved in the sport through coaching after graduation.

Bridgette has been an active member of WIBN Philadelphia since the spring of 2021. She attended the virtual career fair in 2021 as well as the relaunch banquet for WIBN Lancaster’s Chapter honoring the USA Women’s Olympic medalists.

After graduation, Bridgette is looking for opportunities in sales.
