How did you get involved with wrestling?

My dad was my coach through high school, and he got me involved starting in kindergarten at five years old.

What do you do professionally? Tell a little about your professional journey.  Feel free to promote yourself or your company/business. Include website, etc.

I'm a Partner at JM Search, where I help companies hire world-class Cybersecurity and Technology talent.

I have 16 years of executive recruiting experience, where I have focused on advising organizations on:

 ➤ recruitment

➤ assessment

➤ development

➤ retention

of technology, security, risk management, and other functional talent.

My clients have varied from large global corporations to high growth, entrepreneurial, and private equity owned companies.

I started my career as an Officer in the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, where I served for nine years.

My experience with the SEALs taught me that the people on your team make the difference between mission success and failure.

My goal is to help organizations recruit and retain the right teams to help them succeed.

In addition to Chief Information Officers, Chief Information Security Officers, and their key leaders, I also have experienced leading the recruitment of CEOs and top executives for cybersecurity technology companies and managed security services providers. I also regularly engage our clients in partnership with my JM Search teammates to fulfill talent needs across a broad range of industries and areas of functional expertise.

Prior to joining JM Search, my career includes work as:

➤ Senior Client Partner and core member of Korn Ferry's Technology Officers Practice. In this capacity, I co-launched and co-led the firm's Global Security Practice. I was also an active member of the firm's Aviation, Aerospace & Defense Practice.

➤ Associate Principal in the Industrial, Supply Chain, and Transportation and Logistics Practices at Heidrick & Struggles.

➤ Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in Dallas, where I worked on a wide variety of projects with clients in the aerospace and defense, consumer finance, telecommunications, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and education industries.

I earned an MBA from Stanford University and graduated with merit with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from The United States Naval Academy where I was captain of the wrestling team, a two-time qualifier for NCAA Division I Championships, and an Academic and Honorable Mention All-American.

Outside of my search work, I serve on the Board of Trustees for the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and on the Board of Governors for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. I am also a fitness enthusiast who enjoys staying active, and I am on an ongoing quest to improve my guitar playing and surfing skills.

What made you choose that path and why do you enjoy it?

I frankly stumbled into this profession after spending 2+ years in management consulting with BCG. I enjoy it because it is very entrepreneurial, and I have the opportunity to interact with very interesting people every day.

How did wrestling prepare you for your professional career? What were the intangible benefits you learned through the sport (discipline, goal-setting, commitment, resilience, etc)?

Grit, tenacity, teamwork, discipline, and a strong competitive spirit.
