When did you join WIBN?

I was talking with my old coach from high school and he told me about this group, and I knew that I wanted to associate myself with other wrestlers that are successful in business.

How did you get involved with wrestling?

When I was eight years old, my brother was in high school and his friend invited him to the wrestling team. Once he was in it for two months he loved it, and he found out that there was a kids league with the high school. So, he got me and my other brother involved. Then I fell in love with it, and I wrestled from eight to 18 years old.

What do you do professionally? Tell a little about your professional journey.  Feel free to promote yourself or your company/business. Include website, etc.

When I was first starting to get into the professional world, I thought I was going to be an accountant. I started to go to school for accounting and I even got a job as an accountant when I was still in college. After five years of working at this accounting firm and doing various jobs I was needing more in my job. I wanted to make a difference in people's lives and be there to help them along the way. Although at the time I was looking for this change I had the golden handcuffs tying me down to this job. But God always has a plan for us. So, months later the section of the firm that I was working for was sold and due to the sale of the company I was laid off from my job. I then started to pursue my search and came across the financial planning field. I knew that I could make a difference in people's lives and still apply my love of numbers to the job. I have enjoyed helping people save for retirement, leverage life insurance and grow their wealth. What made you choose that path and why do you enjoy it?

When I was looking for a professional career, I wanted to have a job where I was working with people directly and I could see the difference in their lives. I also love how a financial advisor is set up. I work under a firm, but I have my own practice. I have always enjoyed growing in my life and the things around me. Now I can see the growth in the people that I work with and my own practice.

How did wrestling prepare you for your professional career? What were the intangible benefits you learned through the sport (discipline, goal-setting, commitment, resilience, etc)?

When I first started this career, I called my wrestling coach and thanked him. I told him that I'm so grateful that he taught me to wrestle and become a man. I said that because there were so many principles that translated to the real world. I had to be disciplined to stay on a good diet during the wrestling season and I had to be disciplined to study for 12 hours a day to pass my exams. I learned to push myself even when I wanted to give up. That has helped me understand that there is an end goal in mind, and I need to keep pushing. I could go on for days on how wrestling can translate to the business world.
