When did you join WIBN?

 2022

How did you get involved with wrestling?

I took wrestling back up in 8th grade, after wrestling a tournament in 2nd.

I sent 4-6 my freshman year with grades becoming an issue. The summer I went to an overnight camp and became obsessed. I maintained my grades with the desire to stay eligible, and went 31-6, earning a state berth. My career took off from there and I finished as a three-time Wisconsin State qualifier, placing second my senior year. I wrestled at Lakeland University in Wisconsin, finishing with 99 career wins and two conference titles. I then coached at the NJCAA level and was even able to coach my younger brother during his collegiate wrestling journey.

Now, as a dad, I want to allow my son an opportunity to compete. My town did not have a Wrestling Team or club, so I did what every wrestling-crazed person does... create a team.

We are on year three. The program has grown each year. I've aided in the high school developing a co-op with another High School to allow other wrestlers to compete at the next level.

As for my professional life, with the drive and competitiveness developed while wrestling, I've excelled. I've won State awards and have been recognized for the work I do.

Wrestling has played a huge part in my accomplishments as a person, professional, husband, dad, son, and brother.

What do you do professionally? Tell a little about your professional journey.  Feel free to promote yourself or your company/business. Include website, etc.

I with for the State of Minnesota, Department of Corrections as a Transitions Program Coordinator.

I help individuals, who are incarcerated, prepare for their lives post-release.

It's very rewarding; helping individuals knock down barriers and get set up to begin a new life.

I won the award for Innovation and Creativity from the State of Minnesota and have been awarded/recognized numerous times for accomplishments.

What made you choose that path and why do you enjoy it?

Fate. Fate brought me back to wrestling and fate has brought me to my job, wife, and overall current situation.

Reflecting upon my journey, wrestling has been involved. Self - competing, Son - parents proud, Coach/brother - teaching (and proud), husband - competing, dad - coaching/proud/loving.

How did wrestling prepare you for your professional career? What were the intangible benefits you learned through the sport (discipline, goal-setting, commitment, resilience, etc)?

Competing and drive are two main things.

If I'm not naturally the best at something, I work harder to overcome any short comings.

If I have enough drive, I'll take down any challenge, or new project, at work.
