A letter FROM THE Dallas Board
February 22nd, 2025 Dallas WIBN Update
As we start the new year the Texas chapter of Wrestlers in Business is pleased to offer the following updates on our efforts to grow Texas Collegiate Wrestling.
Last year the Texas Collegiate Wrestling Foundation hired Grant Leeth to be the head coach at Tarleton State University. What he has accomplished in a single year has been phenomenal. He has recruited over 60 wrestlers to compete for Tarleton this year as a member of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association.
Here are some of the Tarleton highlights from this season:
Competed in and won the Viking open is Poteau, Ok
Girls and girls win duals against Texas AM
Women win first NCAA dual against Texas Women’s University
Boys send six wrestlers to the Soldier Salute at the University of Iowa
Winning 7 matches against the toughest D1 competition
The NCWA National Championships will be held in Shreveport, La beginning on March 13th.
Perhaps the biggest news this season was our ability to hire Jason Moorman as our women’s head coach. Jason has had a legendary career at Kings College in Tennessee winning ten national titles. He has coached three Olympians resulting in one gold and one bronze medal. He has also coached 159 All Americans. This hire is great win for Texas Wrestling!
While much of our focus is on Tarlton State at this time, our foundation’s goal is to support and promote Texas Collegiate wrestling no matter what level of collegiate competition.
We are supporting the first ever Texas Collegiate State Championships on February 16 at the University of North Texas on February 16th. This tournament is open to all college teams in Texas and we hope to grow it in the years to come.
We continue to raise money to fund a D1 program at Tarleton and we believe that other schools will follow Tarleton in the future.
